Dr. Alfons Yacoub led the translation and interpreting department of the German Embassy in Cairo for almost 30 years till 1995, and served in that time as the prime official interpreter at the Egyptian Presidential Office as well.
In other official duties over a period of 43 years he worked as a language teacher, was author of a successful German language textbook, authenticated translator and conference interpreter, thus setting in Egypt the standard for a language professional. In honor of his achievements.
Dr. Alfons Yacoub was awarded by the President of Germany in 1985 the 1st Class Federal Cross of Merit. Dr. Yacoub was honored for “his great sensitivity, skill, imagination and political sense with which he fulfilled the multiple challenging tasks making ‘big politics’ possible.”

- Binationally born in Cairo, I completed the German School (DEO) in Cairo and had my academic education in architectural and construction engineering at Cairo University. I am holder of a Masters degree and terminated my academic path after a scholarship in Germany as a PhD candidate to focus on practice.
- Besides working in all trades of architecture and construction works in Egypt and Germany the year 2003 was a year of professional expansion through this newly inherited professional field.
- Since this year of taking over I started to conduct the translation office and became acknowledged by the German-speaking and many English-speaking embassies in Cairo as a translator and interpreter for English and German.
In 2012 I got the German state public accreditation in the field of legal translation, swearing-in oath in front of court (München II).
I established BUERO YACOUB TRANSLATION SERVICES with its premises in Cairo and services offered in Germany through our presence near Munich.
